About the Blogger

I am a 22-year-old senior at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln where I am studying Animal Science with a business emphasis and minor in Ag Leadership & Communications. I interned at the BKR Extension office in Ainsworth, NE during the summer of 2012 through the UNL Extension program.4-H was a huge part of my life growing up. It is a great opportunity to be back working with the youth through 4-H programs. During the summer of 2013, I was hired as the American Hereford Association's Marketing and Communications Intern working out of Blue Rapids, KS.
My home resides as a crop and livestock diversified farm located near the small town of Comfrey, Minnesota with my parents Jim and Jeri, and my older sister Jody. We calve out 60 Registered Hereford cows. The beef industry has been a passion of mine since I was a young child and still is as a young adult. I have held many roles in promoting this magnificent idustry. Agriculture in general is important to me. I plan to be working for you and I in the future as a part of this amazing industry.
Aside from our cattle business, we raise the row crops of corn, soybeans, and oats. My father and brother Adam now work together running over 1200 acres to help supply grain for our animals as well as other humans and animals around the world.
My family is a big part of my life, everyone from my parents, sister and her boyfriend, brother Adam his girlfriend, brother Aaron and wife Jamie and daughters Avery and Harper, Grandma Hanson, and my aunt June are all a part of the operation and will continue to be. We love working in the outdoors with the animals and environment in symbiosis.
Although I do not plan to return to the farm in Minnesota, my siblings will be. I hope to land a job in promotional marketing with in the agriculture fiedl after graduating in May 2014 while continuing to raise Hereford cattle and being actively involved in the industry.

If I don't have dreams, there is no purpose to my life so BE PROUD and DREAM BIG!
